Rapelling or abseiling basic training: NIM Uttarkashi Adventure Course, in Uttarakhand

Instructors from tne Nehru Institute of Mountaineering in Uttarakhand train young men and women in the basics of rock craft, in the December 2019 Mixed Adventure Course. It is rapelling or abseiling and not rappling, as we tend to pronounce the word in India! The NIM mixed winter adventure course number 224 practices rappelling or abseiling at Tekhla. Trainees are told to lean their body weight backwards and keep a gap between their legs and have their feet kept flat against the rock as they rappel down the rock face.
