Forest of Deorali in Ganktok, Sikkim Sikkim, the tiny and beautiful state of the Indian Union, located in the Eastern Himalayas has an area of 7096 sq. km. and a population of 406457 the bulk of which resides in rural areas and is heavily dependent on forest resources. The entire state comprises of hilly terrain with forests on hilltops and valleys. Over 81% of the total geographical area of the state is under the administrative control of the Forest Department. Sikkim is endowed with a variety of natural flora and fauna and is a paradise of nature lovers, botanist, environmentalists, conservationists and trekkers.
