The Shaheed Smarak is one of the oldest war memorials built in Meerut. The white marble structure is 30 m high and was built to commemorate the war martyrs of India. It is especially associated with the first war of freedom or revolt of 1857. Several Indians visit the monument to pay their tribute to those who died for the country on days like the Indian Independence Day and Republic Day. The Museum’s main aim is the collection, preservation, documentation and exhibition of cultural property and to make it available for educational activities as well as for the creation of awareness about our glorious past.
