Tortoise weighing more than 100 kg dies due to pollution in Bhopal

A dead body of tortoise has been found in the Lower Lake, Bhopal. According to Bhopal municipal corporation officials, the tortoise was dead atleast 5-6 days ago and it weighed more than 100 kg. Forest Ranger R K Shukla said that principal of Hamidia Girls College informed them about the dead tortoise and soon the rescue team visited the spot and rescued the surfacing tortoise but later it was found that the three and a half feet long tortoise was dead. The carcass of 12-year-old was sent to veterinary hospital for further examination and post-mortem. Later, it was revealed that the tortoise died naturally and but environment enthusiast have raised their concern over the frequent deaths of aquatic animals. Previously, thousands of fishes were found dead in the lake after the Navratri Pooja
