Durga Puja procession prepares for Visarjan or iodl immersion, at Oriya Katwaria Sarai Pujo Devotees first take the idol off and chant in unison while carrying the idol of the Goddess to the pond for immersion. This man-made pond was specially made in R.K Puram for Durga immersion to avoid polluting the rivers. The last day of Durga Puja celebrations sees ‘durga visarjan’. You can see lavish processions taking idols of the goddess for immersion in the Ganga or sea. It is a day of mixed emotions for devotees bid farewell to the deity, with the wish of welcoming her next year.
