Notice the graffiti on the walls of a South Delhi locality. Entertainment takes center stage as the crowd needs to be amused prior to the more somber immersion of the Durga idol in a water body. With much drumming and fanfare, the crowd heads to the visarjan ghat. Durga Puja procession prepares for Visarjan or iodl immersion, at Oriya Katwaria Sarai Pujo Devotees first take the idol off and chant in unison while carrying the idol of the Goddess to the pond for immersion. This man-made pond was specially made in R.K Puram for Durga immersion to avoid polluting the rivers. The last day of Durga Puja celebrations sees ‘durga visarjan’.
