Zokhawthar is a village in the Champhai district of Mizoram, India. It is located in the Khawzawl R.D. Block, on the Indo-Burma border, near the Rih Dil lake. The serene looking lake is a mere 22 km. away from Champhai and is about 3 km. inside Myanmar from the border village of Zokhawthar. In the pre-Christian era,the Mizos and all the cognate groups believed this place to be the passage of souls of the departed ones to their eternal abode,so says the old Mizo folklore.
