An up-close view of the jalpai or Indian Olive tree bearing lots of fruit in Arunachal Pradesh, India. It is for this tree that Jalpaiguri is named - a popular train station hub and a town in West Bengal. Olive tree is an evergreen fruit tree and fruit of this tree is known as Olive, which is green and purple in color and it has one hardy seed. It is known as “Jalpai” in Bengali and it belongs from family of “Oleaceae”; its scientific name is “Olea europaea”. From its fruit, a type of oil is made that is known as olive oil. This plant blooms white colored flower. Olive tree needs warm weather and it loves sunlight. Minimum 10°C temperature is preferable for its growth.
