Kaas Lake in Kaas Plateau shelters a variety of plants after the rainy season in the month of August and September. Varied varieties of flowers with all different colours are in full bloom during this season. This is the indeed the best time for the enthusiastic photographers to grab their cameras and head start out to Kaas. One can capture different flowers here which are indeed incredible to watch; as such this is aptly titled as "Valley of Flowers". Kas/Kaas Plateau is a lateritic soil plateau on the ridge of North Western Ghats of India located to the west of Satara, Maharashtra. Kas plateau has only a shallow upper layer soil in scattered depressions and composed of exposed porous soft rock. The plateau is filled with small rivulets and ponds.
