The Indian Red Admiral (Vanessa indica) ranges across the Indian subcontinent including Himalayan foothills, favoring gardens, forest edges, and flowering shrubs at moderate elevations. This migratory nymphalid butterfly breeds on nettles and feeds on nectar from azalea flowers and other blooms during monsoon and post-monsoon periods. Common in gardens where azalea shrubs provide abundant nectar sources alongside other wildflowers.
