The calm wetland landscape of Chilika Lake, Asia’s largest brackish water lagoon located along India’s eastern coastline. A narrow, isolated island strip rises from the middle of the blue ripple-filled lake, supporting a small rustic fisherman’s hut constructed with mud walls and covered by a blue plastic tarp roof. Sparse leafy trees and wetland vegetation surround the tiny structure within the open lake environment. Across the water surface, Little Grebe birds swim together in pairs while navigating through the calm wetland habitat. The lake supports both migratory and resident waterbird species commonly found within Chilika’s extensive lagoon ecosystem. Gentle water movement, distant wetland scenery, and bird activity highlight the quiet natural atmosphere of the lakeside environment.
