The 'Agyan' in the middle of the paddy field is an altar of the Apatanis that is supposed to protect the produce from the fields. A walk in the early misty morning in the paddy cum fish farming fields of Ziro valley can be a enriching experience. One can get one to see a lot of these Agyans in the fields around the villages of Ziro valley. The Apatani, or Tanii, are a tribal group of people living in the Ziro valley in the Lower Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh in India. However more Apatanis live outside this valley, making the total population approximately 60,000 all over the state.
