Producers decided they don't need songs as the audio market has crashed. Sandeep Chowta says "Yes there is an item number but it was not like it was added because everyone expects one but because the script demanded a song. So I'll call that an item number. It's incredible now, suddenly the audio market has crashed. I think it's the best period as all films have been doing badly and audio is doing badly because believe that only the best will survive." The year was 1998. A low - budget film about the dark underbelly of Mumbai called 'Satya' had captured the country's imagination. The Indian audiences arose to a stunningly new, in-your-face background score.
