In this video, a JCB machine is clearing debris that came down onto a mountain road near Pithoragarh following a landslide. The debris has spread across the road, which has also been damaged, bringing traffic to a halt some distance ahead. The JCB is removing the debris from the road and dumping it into the river below. This could obstruct the river's flow and cause further damage to the surrounding landscape. The operation is also affecting trees and other vegetation growing along the mountainside. There appears to be no permanent or systematic solution to prevent such landslides and manage the debris. Dumping the material directly into the river can also have an adverse impact on the river and its ecosystem.
