The Hindu ritual of consigning sacrifices in flames is known as Havan in simple terms like this one in a smaller private celebration. Women of the family organising the Durga Puja celebration along with the priest sit around the sacrificial flames and chant mantras. The mantras are accompanied by throwing the sacrificial items in the fire. Notice the priest adding ghee or clarified butter into the fire. Durga Puja is celebrated among Hindus in India in various forms as a celebration of women and the goddess Durga who is also worshipped in many other forms.
