Heavy snowfall at the beginning of January covers the high altitude region around Tawang town in Arunachal Pradesh under a thick blanket of snow. The beautiful lakes of Shongatser, PT Tso and Nagula all get frozen. Ice cutters are employed by the Indian Army to clear stretches of the strategically important road to Bumla of the snow accumulation.
