Pilgrims use the staircase to reach the temple as it is on a hilltop. Mandakini river flows on the right-hand side of the temple while on the left side there is Alaknanda river. Hindu pilgrims can be seen taking bath at the confluence. Flying over the township of Rudraprayag see the residential area of the city and a road alongside the Alaknanda river and an iron bridge can also be seen from the air.
