A vast open land in the little Rann of Kutch, where eyes meet with just a vast plane ending at a beautiful horizon which seems just a touch away. With salt pans lined throughout for salt production. A rudimentary hole in the desert ground is the source of sub-surface salt water that is pulled up by a solar powered pump, to fill into salt flats from which water then evaporates in order to create beds of dry salt, in the Little Rann of Kutch in Gujarat, India. Kutch’s white desert is on a wide stretch moving towards the northwestern horizon with vast touching sea bank – the Arabian Sea. Situated about 130 km from Ahmedabad, the Rann of Kutch is a seasonal salt marsh. It is also the land of the Agariyas, traditionally salt farmers, who have lived here for centuries.
