Bustling atmosphere of Gangasagar Mela, one of India’s largest Hindu pilgrimage gatherings held annually on Sagar Island during Makar Sankranti. Large crowds of devotees are seen boarding and disembarking from ferries and gangways along the riverbank as they travel toward the sacred confluence of the Ganga River and the Bay of Bengal. Pilgrims carrying bags, bundles, and personal belongings move through the crowded pathways, reflecting the enormous scale of the annual gathering.
