Derek Malcolm says "Well Ritwik Ghatak is not really known in the west as he should be known although we have had seasons of his film which have done very well at the National Film Theatre in London. I think they have had it in France and America too but he is still not known as he should be. You know most people think of Indian cinema, serious Indian cinema as being Satyajit Roy and nothing else and that is completely wrong as Ray himself would have admitted.
