Vijay Nopany says "See I took up this story in March 2001 and we have been working on this since then. Earlier the plan was to make this movie in Bengali as this story is written by a Bengali girl. Since the Bengal market is small and the Indian market is big so we thought of making it in English. But then the situation was such that we thought it's better to make it in English which then can be released worldwide." Sushmita and Jaanbaz live in India, and they are in love. They intend to marry, but Sushmita's family is strongly opposed to the marriage, since Jaanbaz is a Muslim and they are Hindus.
