Thayambaka presentation by Cheruthazham Kunhiraman Marar of Delhi Panchavadya Trust during Onam festival at Kerala House in New Delhi. “Delhi Panchavadya Trust ” (popularly known as DPT) is a voluntary cultural organization dedicated to promote the declining Traditional Temple Art Forms of Kerala in Delhi/NCR, other metros and abroad. These Art Forms mainly include Panchavadyam, Melam, Thayambaka etc. Thayambaka or tayambaka is a type of solo chenda performance that developed in the south Indian state of Kerala, in which the main player at the centre improvises rhythmically on the beats of half-a-dozen or a few more chenda and ilathalam players around.
