An Oriental garden lizard (Calotes versicolor), also known as the Eastern garden lizard, changeable lizard, or “bloodsucker,” is observed in its natural habitat. This reptile is well known for its ability to change colouration, especially during the breeding season when males may display bright red or orange hues on the head and throat. Its body is typically brown to olive, helping it blend into trees, shrubs, and garden surroundings. Perched on branches or walls, Calotes versicolor remains alert, often basking in sunlight to regulate its body temperature. It feeds on insects, playing an important role in controlling pest populations. Widely distributed across South and Southeast Asia, this adaptable species thrives in both wild and urban environments, making it a familiar sight in gardens
