New Delhi Municipal Council has gone shopping with a tender that was satisfied by a Dutch bulb supplier such as Derck Schipper. It appears that Indian winter flowering plants are not an alluring as European tulips and so India uses its precious resources to import tens of thousands of tulip bulbs for a single flowering, and then disposal of those poor bulbs! They do look nice as they flower, albeit... Not very atmanirbhar, we say, though! Burgundy red tulips bloom in Delhi, thanks to NDMC imports from Holland. This initiative of NDMC has made Delhi cleaner, greener and colourful with tulips around the flyovers that fall on Delhi's inner ring road.
