A blacksmith and his apprentice carve out horse shoes from wrought iron. The iron is heated or forged in a heating area with coal. The molten metal is lifted out and beaten to shape using a hammer and human strength. The shapes are moulded while the metal is still hot and soft. Their 'Smithy' is near the roadside where they are also selling other household items made of iron or steel. Frying pans, knifes, hammers are on display at the shop. In the early days of civilization, Blacksmiths were an important profession as they were the ones who made household items, weapons.
