In a grassy plain with few trees, a single nest of a baya weaver dangles off a branch. A male baya weaver,(Ploceus philippinus) brings back materials for the nest under construction. The weaver threads strands of grass skillfully onto the nest. The bird perches ion the nest while making calls and displaying himself to the females by hanging off the nest before flying off. The nest displays a distinct two-compartment inside. The baya weaver weaves its tubular nest with strands of paddy, hard grass, and coconut fronds.
