Kabootar baazi is the art of pigeon breeding, training and flying in north India. Pigeons are trained to answer to the master's calls and are let free to fly around their locality and return on being called back to their home, to be shut off safely, after being fed, in their enclosure. Fakhta udana is the art of flying and controlling pigeon flocks in densely-packed urban areas, and ensuring that one's pigeons return to one's aviary and not to the neighbours'!
