This nifty device - a soil lifter - digs up a paddy field post stubble burning or removal and sifts the soil. The larger bits including stones are thrown to the side of the field while the finer and more arable soil is dropped back onto the field, for the next sowing season. Punjab has large agri holdings that are conducive to large scale agricultural and mechanization.
