The Puri Rath Yatra can be considered as the largest Rath Yatra or Chariot festival in India with thousands thronging the Jagannath Temple in Odisha. This ancient festival has been celebrated for more than 200 years. Thousands of tourists and devotees pull the gigantic chariots decorated in colourful patterns and religious flocks. There is fanfare and celebration with a lot of trade and commerce. Vendors and shoppers alike are busy buying and selling while religious musical bands are playing music and leading the march. Posters of the Jagannath deities are sold in thousands here as is seen in the small shops outside the festival venue.
