The Hanle Monastery is located just along the roadside. It is only 19 km from the disputed frontier between India and Chinese-controlled Tibet. One can certainly expect to be lost in the serene beauty around making it a very peaceful drive yet adventurous out and out. Hanle in the Changthang region of Ladakh is one of the most beautiful, enchanting, calm and soul losing places in India. The place is actually very scenic and feels out of the world. However, in actual reality, the place is extremely harsh and difficult to survive especially in winters. There are only a few accommodations available in the village and the facilities like electricity, medical aid, hot running water, western toilets etc. are luxury in itself.
