With traffic, the Skytrain and the Sky bridge in the background, the Erawan shrine seems to be an unlikely spot for prayers, yet it is a busy shrine with devotees thronging to it at all times. The shrine was built in 1956, was vandalised in 2006 and in 2015, a bomb exploded near the shrine, killing 20 people and injuring 125 but none of this seems to have diminished the popularity of the shrine for its devotees. The Brahma shrine of Erawan in Bangkok, Thailand is a tiny religious island in the bustling city with its high-rise buildings and massive malls. This Thao Maha Phrom or the shrine of the great Lord Brahma is always busy with devotees and music and dance. The shrine is in the compound of the Grand Hyatt Erawan but is always open to public.
