Ashish Khan is playing the sarod, an adapted and improved version of the Rabab. Sarod means song or melody of Persian origin. On other hand, the magical tabla maestro is displaying his magic in this tabla and sarod jugalbandi or face off. They kick start the jugalbandi by checking their instruments even though for maestros such as Ashish Khan and Zakir Hussain is just a seconds work. Their melodies uplift the whole atmosphere and happily trancsends the audence into a state of trance. Zakir Hussain is today appreciated both in the field of percussion and in the music world at large as an international phenomenon. A classical tabla virtuoso of the highest order, his consistently brilliant and exciting performances have not only established him as a national treasure in his own country, India
