Holy River Yamuna (the main tributary of river Ganges) separates Allahabad from its satellite town Naini. Earlier the city was connected with Naini by an old rail/road bridge. It was felt that this bridge will not be able to cater the needs of ever increasing traffic between two sides of the river. Moreover, the development of Naini as industrial town has also created traffic pressure on then existing bridge. Keeping this in view and the future requirements of national waterway, traffic plying between Kolkata & Allahabad and the aesthetics of the holy Sangam city where pilgrims from all over the world come to have a holy dip, a concrete cable stayed four laned road bridge was constructed. NHAI (National Highway Authority of India) has constructed this bridge at the cost of 300 crores. Tota
