Among the lesser known monuments in Delhi is Bhuli Bhatiyari Mahal. The palace with a park is situated on Ridge road near Panchkuian road. The park, maintained by Delhi Development Authority or DDA, takes you to the palace. The old architectural structure is surrounded by wild shrubs and neglected trees. There is a board near the entrance which announces that the monument is protected under the Archaeological Survey of India or ASI. It also comes under the aegis of INTACH as a heritage project. Bhuli Bhatiyari Mahal was built by Feroz Shah Tughlaq in the 14th century as a hunting lodge or a 'shikargarh'. Some historians maintain that it was named after the bhuri or the fair inn-keeper at the lodge. It is believed that Feroz Shah Tughlaq fell in love with the inn-keeper and the palace was l
