Dev Anand narrates how he met Dr Manmohan Singh before he was a Prime Minister: "I have met him once. Manmohan Singh and I met at London airport. I was heading to Switzerland. He was returning to India. By chance, we came upon each other. He came up to me with great respect. I went up to him with even greater respect. He was not Prime Minister then. He was the Finance Minister. I sent him greetings and good wishes when he became the PM. He must have got busy as the PM worrying about thousands and lakhs of people, but I did not hear back from him when I sent him greetings. Doing all this in a country with so many temperaments, castes, and so on..."
