Javed Akhter says "I remember when I came here as an Assistant Director at Kamal Studios. Since I didn't have a place to live so I use to stay in their costume room and there in a drawer were 3 trophies which belonged to Meena Kumari. That was the first time that I touched an award and use to imagine that one day I will also get awards. Since it was a dressing room, I use to take her awards and stand in front of the mirrors, which were kept in the costume room, thinking that I received an award. Which fortunately later in my life I did receive my own awards making me happy and they still make me happy as receiving awards always makes me happy."
