Buddhist pilgrims filmed on the sacred gardens of Lumbini. Lumbini is one of the holiest places of one of the world's great religions, and its remains contain important evidence about the nature of Buddhist pilgrimage centres from as early as the 3rd century BC. Lumbini gardens are believed to be the birthplace of Gautama Buddha, also know as Siddhārtha Gautama, Shakyamuni Buddha, or simply the Buddha. He is believed to have lived and taught mostly in the eastern part of ancient India sometime between the 6th and 4th centuries BCE.
