Pollution and hazards are secondary when it comes to festivals in India where hundreds of festivals are celebrated every year among the many religious and ethnic groups. This is Ganesh Visarjan in a 'contained' artificial immersion site in Bombay. Municipal workers and officers are moving the idols of Ganesha and dropping them from a truck symbolizing the immersion. Broken parts of the idol painted in toxic colours lay in and around the vicinity of the artificial pond.
