The traditional preparation of Thekua, one of the most important offerings associated with the Chhath Puja festival in Bihar, Jharkhand, eastern Uttar Pradesh, and Nepal's Terai region. The process begins with kneading a dough made from wheat flour, jaggery or sugar, and ghee. Skilled hands then carefully shape each piece and press decorative patterns into the dough using traditional moulds or hand-crafted techniques, giving Thekua its distinctive ornamental appearance. The shaped sweets are then gently lowered into hot oil, where they are deep-fried until they develop a rich golden-brown colour and crisp texture.
