The Meconopsis horridula or Himalayan Blue Poppy in the wild, along the upper reaches of the Teesta / Tista river, near Gurodongmar in north Sikkim, India. Blue poppy is the national flower of Bhutan. It is found from Kumaon to Kashmir at elevations of 3,000 to 4,500 meters. A postal stamp was issued by the Indian Postal Department, to commemorate this flower. Sikkim is the least populous state in India and the second-smallest state after Goa. Sikkim is known for its mountainous terrain. Sikkim has around 5000 flowering plants.
