A seven-year-old girl slipped into a 26-foot borewell in Gorhandi village and died in the second such incident in Gaya district since May last year. Monu Kumari slipped into the borewell in a field belonging to Umesh Yadav at Bihta panchayat of Khisersarai block. Her body was extricated after nearly seven hours but she had died by then. Dilip Yadav, primary agriculture credit society president at Bihta panchayat, who provided his earthmover for the rescue operation, said Monu, who was playing nearby, slipped into the borewell because her father, Ramashish Yadav, had pulled the pipe out to remove sand from it.
