It does appear to be a tad absurd that one must wear a mask inside one's car, even if alone and the windows are up! But a rule is a rule and a law is a law, and no amount of arguing gets the cops to relent. Doubtless these youngster cop volunteers get a commission cut from their takings. That would explain their over-enthusiasm to collect challans. Yet they will not stop beggar children near them from wearing masks. As if ONLY the rich can spread Covid. Reverse democracy or casteism in place? Of course, only car owners can pay Rs. 2000 challans! Even if it holds up traffic, these volunteers make sure that the supposed guilty pay up their challans.
