A man swirls his gamcha or cotton cloth shawl around his face to fan himself and thus create some air in the oppressive summer heat, with the added humidity of the mango orchard which has little water channels running between the trees. Lots of lead and newsprint transferring over onto the mangos, as they get packed in plastic tokris and then later in wooden crates. You know summer is here when mangoes, the highlight of the heat of the plains of India, start ripening on trees. Watch these workers drop and collect basket loads of mangoes at a mango orchard in Meerut.
