The crowd is bustling with energy in the stadium. A small girl happily plays with her toy phone as a means to pass her time before the festivities begin. Students of Yangchenphug High school do the final touch-ups and stand in line. The local girls can be seen wearing the traditional Bhutanese attire called Kira. The stadium is lined with Buddhist praying flags. The Kingdom of Bhutan is a small landlocked country located in the southern foothills of the Himalayan mountain range, sandwiched between the People's Republic of China in the north and the Republic of India in the south. Bhutanese people can be generally categorized into three main ethnic groups. The Tshanglas, Ngalops and the Lhotshampas.
