Before the deity of Durga, Hindu devotees come in to pray and pay obeisance. They get a mauli thread tied on their wrists. Th sacred thread cuts across various Hindu religions ceremonies. Dekchis are purified on the holy fire and a prasad preparation is placed for heating atop the fire. Much chanting takes place around the temple premises, as the prasadam is heated and devotees start to file in, for the Durga Puja ceremonies. Smartly, the man who picks the dekchi off the fire is wearing a Covid cautious mask.
