Only on the 10th of July three country made bombs were hurled into the Madras residents the film director Maniratnam. The crude country made bombs which fell on the fibreglass awning right below the balcony shattered some window panes in the first floor of the house and although Ratnam miraculously escaped with some minor injuries. The news of the attack came as the rude shock to millions of Indians. G. Venkateshwaran, Maniratnam's brother speaks about the bomb blast. He says, "In a free country like ours it's really shocking to note that somebody in attempted the life of creator for no palpable reason.
