A 1990's archival recording of the festival. Janmashtami or Krishna Janmashtami is a Hindu festival celebrating the birthday of Lord Krishna, who is believed to be the 8th avatar of lord Vishnu. Decorated idols of Krishna and his consort Radha are seen inside the temple. The religious leaders and priests put up a show for the devotees with live devotional music and singing. The priest and the temple leaders play vigorous devotional music, accompanied by cymbals and wooden drums.
