Sanshin artists Narise Arakaki and HIKARI with taiko artists. The Ryukyukoku Matsuri Daiko is a performance of Taiko (large Japanese drums) drumming and dance that consists of the beating of Taiko drums. Narise Arakaki started training as a Sanshin (Okinawan traditional string instrument) artist at the age of 9. She has been awarded grand prizes at many musical competitions in Okinawa. Currently, she is a member of Okinawa Minyo Hozonkai, the organization that was founded for preserving regional folk songs. At the age of 8, HIKARI started playing Sanshin and singing regional folk songs. He made his professional music debut in 2012, releasing the first solo album “Hikari”.
