In this video you can see the salt workers of the Little Rann of Kutch collecting the upper salt (crystallized) layers in a sea water reservoir! The salt workers collect the salt crystals embedded on the upper layers. Natural crystallization of salt is generally done by agents of evaporation. Crystallization of salt normally takes place in arid climates, as strong heat causes fast evaporation of water. The salt workers settle down in the desert for 8 months between October to May and their homes adjacent to the salt pans that they work on. Every year there homes are destroyed by the monsoon and they have to rebuild them during their working season.
