It is interesting to see the pattern of frozen snow on the agricultural fields of the high Himalaya, in Spiti, Himachal Pradesh. While the mountainous land in between has turned brown with snowmelt, snow has got consolidated in the village fields and stays frozen solid and unmelted. So the fields are acting as mini glaciers, holding back the snow as ice, thus nurturing the mountains and wildlife with water for a longer period of time. A clear-cut case of human intervention in a wild environment but one that is of a positive nature!
